Gavin DeGraw performs on ‘Today’ one month after suffering violent attack (video)

Gavin DeGraw. (Peter Kramer - AP)
Gavin DeGraw sounded and looked quite good on the “Today” show Thursday, considering that just one month the singer’s nose was broken in a still unsolved New York City attack.

The “Chariot” singer told Matt Lauer he was walking home from a bar last month when heard a group of people talking to him in a not-so-nice tone. He turned to look at them, and then “the lights went out,” he said.

“It was one of those rough nights,” he said. No one has been arrested in the violence.

In addition to a broken nose, DeGraw suffered a concussion. The head injury was so bad that DeGraw said he doesn’t recall being clipped by a cab as he tried to walk to a hospital.

But any residual injury to DeGraw’s singing voice was nowhere to be heard as he performed “Not Over You” from his new album, “Sweeter.” The album hits stores this week. Check out the interview and performance below.
