George Lopez talk show, ‘Lopez Tonight,’ canceled

George Lopez’s talk show, “Lopez Tonight,” is coming to an end.

TBS announced today that the late night show, which debuted on the network in November of 2009, has not been picked up for a third season.

“Thursday will be the final episode of the show,” the announcement said. “We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air.”

It’s an abrupt end for the former sitcom star’s gab fest, which aired at 11 p.m. when it initially debuted but was moved back to the midnight time slot when “Conan” arrived at TBS.

Lopez has not publicly reacted to the news and his rep has not yet responded to an e-mail seeking comment. His Twitter feed also did not indicate the end was nigh; one of his most recent tweets was a promo for Tuesday night’s show.

The final scheduled guests on “Lopez Tonight,” which evidently airs Thursday, are Raven Symone and comedian Auggie Smith.
