‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ trailer: More Channing Tatum, more explosions

Channing Tatum, pictured at the New York Stock Exchange in 2009, is ready for more action in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” (Seth Wenig - AP)
“The world ain’t saving itself.”

So speaks Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the new trailer for “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” the sequel to 2009’s “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.” And apparently that dude knows what he’s talking about.

As the clip demonstrates, Cobra Command has assumed control of the White House in the second G.I. Joe action flick. Which means it’s up to returning star Channing Tatum, the Rock and the rest of the G.I. Joe team to, indeed, save the world, a process that apparently involves lots of explosions, sword fighting while hanging off the side of mountains and Bruce Willis. (Keep watching, he pops up at the end.)

By the way, is it weird that I want “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” which co-stars Adrianne Palicki (Tyra from “Friday Night Lights”) and releases in June, to go on an action movie date with “Battleship,” which co-stars Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins from “Friday Night Lights”) and releases in May? Or is it just additional proof that I am totally not the target demographic for “G.I. Joe: Retaliation”?

Either way, watch the trailer after the jump.
