Giuliana Rancic shared the latest on her battle with breast cancer on Friday’s “Today” show, just two and a half weeks after undergoing a double mastecotomy.
The E! News host, who returned to work this week, told Matt Lauer she is feeling “great” but didn’t want to play down the severity of her mastectomy and reconstruction surgery.
“I knew this was going to be a tough surgery. I in no way want to minimize it,” Rancic, who was joined by her husband, Bill, told Lauer. “Up until a week and a half ago, it was hell. It was horrible.”
Rancic revealed her breast cancer diagnosis on “Today” in mid-October. Since then, the 37-year-old TV personality has been sharing each step of her journey with the public, who in turn showed her support and love.
More than two weeks after her latest surgery, Rancic said her mobility is still limited. She can’t buckle her own seat belt or raise her hands above her head. Still, Rancic said she felt well enough to return to work this week, a goal she set for herself.
“It was nice having a goal. I think it helps you recover quicker,” she said.
As if her return to work so soon after surgery wasn’t incredible enough, Rancic and her hubby will help ring in the New Year on NBC’s celebration in Times Square.
