Gwyneth Paltrow is the best-dressed woman in the entire world

Gwyneth Paltrow is the best-dressed woman in the world. That’s according to the editors of People, who gave the Goop-stress that title as part of their list of the 10 best-dressed celebs of 2012.

Before you open your snark purse and start dumping its contents all over the comments section of this blog post, let’s be fair: Paltrow does tend to look pretty flawless on red carpets. (See below for further evidence.)

That said, the way this list was composed is a little, uh, unconventional.

While Paltrow got the blessing of People staffers as the most chic woman currently residing on planet Earth, the other nine famous ladies who made the list were each nominated by outside fashion experts.

Hence, Kate Middleton (the possibly-pregnant-or-at-least-not-so-into-wine-recently Duchess of Cambridge) rightfully makes the cut, thanks to “Mad Men” costume designer Janie Bryant; Emma Stone also does due to a nomination by Giuliana Rancic; Reese Witherspoon lands on the list with the support of Matthew McConaughey’s wife Camila (um, all right); and Jessica Alba earns a level of best-dressed recognition courtesy of Lauren Conrad (um, huh?).

In other highly significant news to come out of this best dressed survey, Emma Stone is the only best-dressed list-maker to also land one of several highly coveted best hair superlatives (she gets top color chameleon). Jennifer Aniston finally earned the best hair lifetime achievement award she has so long deserved, while Beyonce was recognized for having the sexiest curls. Blake Lively wowed the judges enough to merit an “all-around excellence” honor, and Miley Cyrus — whose teased-up punky ‘do attracted so many comparisons to Pink at the MTV Video Music Awards — was singled out for most talked-about makeover.

Perhaps in 20 years, with some concerted follicular effort, perhaps Cyrus can be the one receiving the best hair lifetime achievement award.
