Halle Berry has opened up about her custody case with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry for the first time.
“When there’s a child involved, it’s a relief when you can resolve things in a good way,” the 44-year-old actress told “Extra’s” Terri Seymour. Berry and Aubry split in April 2010, and the two have been fighting an amicable- turned-nasty custody battle over their daughter Nahla ever since. But it seems their situation has turned a corner.
“Our issues were never about fighting for her. We both know that a child needs both their parents,” she said. “Sometimes as a couple you reach an impasse, and we need the court and a judge to work out some of the delicate issues. And I’m so happy that we’ve arrived at that place. For her sake, this is the best way.”
Berry also discussed her “What A Little Love Can Do” project, which renovates apartments in a Los Angeles transitional housing shelter. She told Seymour that new beau Olivier Martinez wants to get involved with the charity.
