‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ trailer: Haven’t we seen this fairy tale before?

Jeremy Renner: From “Bourne” to witch-busting. (Fabrizio Bensch - Reuters)
The first trailer for “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” has arrived online and proves that, as its title suggests, this film will not be a traditional retelling of the tale in which two kids shove a witch’s head into an oven.

Apparently this version of “Hansel and Gretel,” due out in January, features a witchy woman that looks a lot like that scary old lady from “Drag Me to Hell;” the use of bows and arrows (a given now in an action movie) as well as a surprisingly large number of massive guns; Jeremy Renner as a wise-cracking, adult Hansel; and Gemma Arterton as a head-butting, grown-up Gretel.

Does it look like a combination of “Snow White and the Huntsman” and “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”? Kind of. And I’m not sure that’s a good thing. But watch below and decide for yourself.
