James Frey faces Oprah five years after the ‘Million Little Pieces’ controversy

For the first time in five years, embattled author James Frey will face Oprah Winfrey on Monday, taking up two episodes of the final full week of the media maven’s talk show. Frey’s “A Million Little Pieces” was selected to be part of Oprah’s book club in 2005, catapulting the author and book to success. But after the Smoking Gun uncovered inconsistencies and lies in the book, Frey appeared on her show again in 2006 and acknowledged that he had lied: The book wasn’t a memoir. “I feel duped,” Oprah told her audience. “But more importantly, I feel that you betrayed millions of readers.”

Frey’s interview, conducted in New York, will appear on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” Monday and Tuesday. Check back in for video and details from both days.
