Jani Lane, the former lead singer of ’80s glam metal band Warrant, died of alcohol poisoning, a coroner has determined.

The 47-year-old was found dead in a L.A. motel room in August. Fellow rockers Bret Michaels, Dee Snider and Erik Turner expressed their condolences online.

Lane fronted Warrant from 1986 to 2004, when he left to pursue a solo career. He returned to the band in 2008 but departed months later. The musician also appeared on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” in 2005.

Lane was arrested for DUI in 2009 and 2010. He was sentenced to serve 120 days in jail in July 2010.
