Jason Segel Muppets it up in Washington (Video)

(Ben de la Cruz/Washington Post)

Jason Segel came to Washington on Tuesday. And as promised, he — along with writing partner Nicholas Stoller and director James Bobin — introducted the first midnight screening of “The Muppets.”

Before doing that, though, he chatted with me briefly about showing the new Kermit movie at the White House, where he apparently learned that President Obama really likes the movie “I Love You, Man,” and whether it’s possible for him to watch the performance of “The Rainbow Connection” in the new Muppet film without crying. (Spoiler alert: It’s not.)

He also showed me how to do Muppet face, an important skill, and got two movie houses to sing a rousing version of “Mahna Mahna.” Check out the video below before you see “The Muppets,” which opens today and is earning stellar reviews, including this one from The Post’s Michael O’Sullivan.
