Jason Sudeikis comments on January Jones’s pregnancy (sort of) and his MTV Movie Awards gig

Jason Sudeikis has shown up in entertainment headlines lately,
Jason Sudeikis: preparing for the MTV Movie Awards, but not prepared to say much about January Jones’s pregnancy. (Dan Steinberg - AP)
both because of his recently announced gig as MTV Movie Awards host and because his former girlfriend, January Jones, recently announced her pregnancy.

Sudeikis, who came to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner tonight to support friend, “SNL” colleague and dinner emcee Seth Meyers, took a couple of moments to speak about both subjects.

When I asked if he had any comment on the recent news about Jones, who split with Sudeikis back in January, he said, “I’d rather — yes but no.”

Was he surprised to find out she was pregnant?

“No, I —,” then he paused and stammed. “No, I didn’t have anything [else to say].” He stammered some more.and that was the extent of our conversation on the subject. Sudeikis seemed comfortable being asked about the situation, just unwilling to say too much.

He was far more at ease when we talked about his upcoming gig as host of the MTV Movie Awards, to be held June 5.

“It feels extremely close,” he said of the upcoming, often cheeky ceremony. “It involves a group of writers coming up with ideas in L.A., writers and friends at SNL coming up with ideas, everybody looking at each other’s ideas, and then trying to wrangle some talented funny, cool people.”

When asked if he had any idea what Seth Meyers planned to do for his White House Correspondents’ Dinner routine, he said, “As far as content? No, not at all. I like being surprised. He does it on a weekly basis. I’ve had three weeks off so it’s about time. I’m used to watching him for 10 minutes on a Saturday night.”

As to whether he might be interested in hosting the Correspondents’ Dinner one day, Sudeikis isn’t even considering that yet.

“Let’s see how the MTV [gig goes] — one hosting gig at a time,” he said.
