Javier Bardem confirms role as next ‘Bond’ villain

Javier Bardem. (Ethan Miller - Getty Images) Javier Bardem will take on Daniel Craig as the villain in the upcoming James Bond film.

The Oscar winner confirmed the news in a “Nightline” interview with Christiane Amanpour, where he also discussed his work to help refugees from the Western Sahara.

“I am very excited because my parents took me to watch the movies, and I saw all of them. So to play that is going to be fun,” he said. “They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details.”

Sam Mendes is set to direct “Bond 23,” rumored to be titled “Skyfall.”
