Another celebrity marriage appears to be ending.
Jennie Garth, best known for her role on the original “Beverly Hills, 90210,” and Peter Facinelli, the actor who plays the adoptive patriarch of the Cullen family in the “Twilight” movies, confirmed today that they are splitting after 11 years of marriage.
As E! News reported, the couple released a joint statement that said, “While we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children. We remain dedicated to raising our beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this time.”
No reason for the split was given. This is not the first time reports of a break-up have circulated. Last July, Perez Hilton reported that Facinelli, 38, and Garth, 39, were living apart, but other outlets said the rumor was false.
The timing of the pending divorce is eyebrow-raising, considering that Garth’s new reality show, “Jennie Garth: Little Bit Country” — which chronicles the family’s move to a California farm — is slated to debut next month on CMT. Presumably marital troubles will be part of the story line.
Facinelli — who brought one of the couple’s three daughters, Luca Bella, to last night’s “Hunger Games” premiere — wed Garth in 2001 at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Montecito, Calif., where two of Garth’s “90210” co-stars, Tori Spelling and Tiffani Thiessen, served as bridesmaids.
It was Facinelli’s first marriage and Garth’s second; she married musician Daniel B. Clark in 1994 and finalized a divorce from him in 1996, the same year she met Facinelli while filming a TV movie called “An Unfinished Affair.”
In addition to Luca, now 14, the pair has a 9-year-old (Lola) and a 5-year-old (Fiona).
