Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard have separated

Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard — a Hollywood couple whose relationship had managed to endure for almost three decades — are separating.

The Associated Press and People have confirmed the split via Lange’s publicist.

Lange — the Oscar-winning actress currently playing a woman who lives next door to the strangest house in TV history on “American Horror Story” — and Shepard — an actor and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and author — began their romance in 1982. They have two children together — daughter Hannah, 26, and son Samuel, 24.

According to People, Lange and Shepard ended things two years ago but had never publicly confirmed the end of their relationship until now.

It’s unknown what caused the break-up. Whatever the reason, it’s sad to see yet another longtime, seemingly solid entertainment industry love story come to an end.
