Johnny Weir began the New Year with a new title: husband.
The Olympic figure skater announced on Twitter that he and his Russian boyfriend, law school graduate Victor Voronov, wed on New Year’s Eve.
In a Twitter response to former “Real Housewives of New York” star Jill Zarin, Weir said that there would be a wedding ceremony in the summer: “But all the official stuff is done now!” he wrote. “No more livin’ in sin!”
In a recent interview with IceNetwork.com, Weir said he and Vornov have “known each other for a long time and ... reconnected over the summer, and it’s just been a whirlwind. ” He called his now husband “wonderful.”
“Thank you to everyone for your well wishes to me and [Victor Voronov]!” Weir tweeted Monday. “It means a lot to have your blessings! Mama loves you!”
