In August, fans of Whitney Houston will be able to say goodbye once again when “Sparkle,” the final film in which she appeared before her untimely death this February, will hit theaters.
For the moment, we have the music video for “Celebrate,” a duet between Houston and the film’s star Jordin Sparks. The song was released in May.
Houston plays Sparks’s mother in the remake of the 1976 movie musical, which follows a sister-girl group that is tested by fame.
Sparks, an “American Idol” winner, told BET the video is a tribute to Houston, who was originally set to co-star in it.
“We’re all just having a good time [and the premise is the cast] all come over to my house singing along to Whitney’s music. And we’re missing her and celebrating her as well,” she told BET. “It’s actually pretty simple, but when you watch it and hear her voice along with it, it makes it so much more.”
Houston appeared in “Celebrate’s” video through clips from the film and in t-shirt form.
