Joss Whedon made secret ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ film

Joss Whedon: keeper of secrets, maker of films. (Reed Saxon - AP)
Joss Whedon is a very good secret keeper.

The Avengers” director/ “Buffy” creator filmed a big screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” without anyone outside of the project finding out.

The Web site, MuchAdoTheMovie.com, launched Sunday night featuring a poster announcing the cast and declaring principal photography for the film has been completed.

The film stars many Whedon-alums, including Nathan Fillion (“Firefly”) and Amy Acker (“Angel,” “Dollhouse.”)

Costume designer Shawna Trpcic tweeted (via Vulture) that Fillion will play Dogberry. Emma Bates tweeted that she will be playing Ursula.

Fillion confirmed that the project is not some cruel joke. “Oh, it’s real. Very. Very. Real,” he tweeted. Fillion then teased, “Alright, here’s everything I know about muchadothemovie.com — Server error.”

The film does not currently have distribution, the Wrap reports.
