Letting audiences know how long they have until the band takes the stage is a really great idea.

Kim Kardashian endorses President Obama for endorsing same-sex marriage

Kim Kardashian: she approves this same-sex marriage message. (Evan Agostini - AP)
President Obama has endorsed same-sex marriage in a new interview that will air tonight on ABC News. Naturally, when you heard about this momentous occasion, the first question to cross your mind was: I wonder what Kim Kardashian thinks about all this?

Fortunately, the recent White House correspondents’ dinner attendee shared her thoughts almost immediately on her blog, and tweeted them out, and shared them via a press release.

Her response:

“Wow… I just heard that President Obama has officially announced that he supports gay marriage!! This is such a huge step forward in our country’s fight for civil rights and I hope that today this will give hope to so many young people across the country.”

“We’ve never had a president so supportive of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community,” Kardashian continues, “and today I am proud to be an American!! I’m so happy that our country is making history and moving forward. No more living in the past!”

Well, depending on your political point of view, they’re still living in the past in North Carolina. But let’s not burst Kardashian’s bubble. She seems so happy right now. I mean, look at all the exclamation points.

So what does this important statement from Kardashian mean, besides the obvious answer, which is, “Not much, really”?

Well, if you’re against same-sex marriage and you don’t like Kim Kardashian, this only affirms your position that the president is wrong, wrong, wrong. “I mean, look how wrong he is,” someone will undoubtedly say on Fox News. “He’s got Kim Kardashian agreeing with him.”

If you’re in favor of same-sex marriage but don’t think much of Kim Kardashian, you will either ignore this entirely or, perhaps, think: “You know, maybe that Kim Kardashian is a little smarter than I thought. If she uses fewer exclamation points, she just might win me over.”

If you’re anti-same sex marriage, but pro-“Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” perhaps you’ll stop watching the family’s reality shows. But really, you probably won’t, because why would you stop at this point if you’ve been watching this long?

And if you’re pro-same-sex marriage and pro-Kim K., you will undoubtedly be thrilled to know that yet another celebrity is in your corner. Because whatever your cause might be, isn’t it always comforting to know that famous reality stars agree with it?
