Lady Gaga didn’t bother with raw meat dresses at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Instead, she opened the show by assuming her male alter ego, Jo Calderone, engaging in a lengthy monologue worthy of an especially dramatic “Jersey Shore” episode, performing a spirited version of “You and I” and bringing guitar legend Brian May of Queen onstage with her.
Several Twitter commentators — this one included — noted that she looked an awful lot like Ralph Macchio, which briefly caused the recent “Dancing With the Stars” contender to become a trending topic. Her Macchio resemblance may be somewhat debatable, but her performance made for undeniably over-the-top, can’t-look-away TV. Watch it below.
