The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is preserving music history by displaying preserved meat.

The controversial raw meat dress worn by Lady Gaga to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in currently on display at the famous Cleveland museum as part of the exhibit “Women Who Wear Food Rock.”

Potential visitors to the exhibit might be concerned about the amount of flies the dress must be attracting. But not to worry: The dress has been preserved by a taxidermist and painted to look fresh.

Gaga (sort of) explained the outfit choice to Ellen DeGeneres, saying, “If we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat.”
