Lady Gaga to spend New Year’s Eve with Mayor Bloomberg

Lady Gaga. (KAZUHIRO NOGI - AFP/GETTY IMAGES) Lady Gaga will be ringing in the New Year with Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Mama Monster was selected by the New York City mayor to be his special guest during the 2012 countdown, the New York Daily news reported. The singer will push the button that drops the Times Square Ball, from which it seems she has drawn fashion inspiration in the past.

While Bloomberg (I) said he’s never met the colorful performer, he called her “a great entertainer.”

Gaga will also perform during Dick Clark’s annual “Rockin’” event in Times Sqaure and via satellite on Japan’s very popular “Red and White Singing Contest” program.

For the time being, Gaga is just a performer in other people’s productions. But next year, I wouldn’t be surprised if she had her own show. “A Very Gaga” New Year’s Eve, anyone?
