LeAnn Rimes kicked off last night’s NCAA tournament championship game by singing the national anthem. Already some media outlets like the Daily Mail are criticizing the singer for looking too gaunt. But give her credit for this: She did not screw up any of the words in “The Star-Spangled Banner.” University of Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun may have looked decidedly unmoved during Rimes’s performance, but I thought she did a nice job.
