‘Mad Men’ not canceled, AMC says

Speculation has spread like Internet wildfire this morning that “Mad Men” might be canceled and Don Draper might not live to drink and womanize another day. Not so fast, Sterling Draper Pryce fans.

AMC has issued a statement confirming that the show will return, but not until 2012, as previously suggested. As reported in this blog earlier this morning, negotiations between creator Matthew Weiner and AMC/Lionsgate have hit another bump, but representatives at the network say they are committed to bringing the show back.

“AMC has officially authorized production of season 5 of Mad Men, triggering our option with Lionsgate, (Mad Men’s production company),” the statement said. “While we are getting a later start than in years past due to ongoing, key non-cast negotiations, Mad Men will be back for a fifth season in early 2012.”
