Matthew Bellamy and Kate Hudson name son Bingham

Bing’s mom Kate Hudson. (David Livingston - GETTY IMAGES) Matthew Bellamy and Kate Hudson have named their baby boy Bingham, the new father announced on his Twitter.

“So happy! Just had a baby boy, Bingham "Bing" Hawn Bellamy,” the Muse rocker tweeted, adding that the baby weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces at birth Saturday. “Mum and baby are strong and healthy. Mum was a warrior, Bing popped out after 4.5 hours of intense pushing!”

This is the first baby for the couple. Hudson has another son, Ryder, with her ex-husband Chris Robinson.

While Bingham is unusual for an American, it seems right and proper for this half-Brit baby.

Update: Bellamy explained the meaning behind the baby’s name on Twitter: “For those wondering, Bingham is my mum’s maiden name and Bing Russell was Kurt’s dad. Family connections all round!”
