Michael Bolton appears with the Lonely Island on ‘SNL’

Michael Bolton made the move from soft rock to hip-hop on “Saturday Night Live.”

Appearing with Andy Samberg’s hip-because-they’re-nerds rap group, the Lonely Island, Bolton interrupted the boys’ song with a hook about Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp’s character from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, and other characters from popular cinema. Although seeing Bolton dressed as a pirate was kind of amusing, I don’t think it will do anything for his coolness cred.
