Michael Douglas says that his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones was “outed” when she sought treatment for bipolar II disorder. “I must say, Catherine’s being quite open about it because she was outed, you know,” Douglas tells Oprah Winfrey in an interview airing on today’s “Oprah Winfrey Show.” The actor, who was treated for throat cancer last year, does not say specifically who made Zeta-Jones’s disorder public.
The 41-year-old actress has made one public statement about her disorder, saying in a statement to People, “If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it.”
Douglas will also discuss the other personal problems he’s faced this year. “My oldest son is in federal prison, my ex-wife is suing me and I got cancer,” Douglas said.
