Much media ado about the royal pregnancy

A morning mix of entertainment headlines . . .

As expected, the announcement that Kate Middleton and Prince William, a.k.a. the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are expecting their first child has prompted a flood of media coverage. The Post’s Anthony Faiola, stationed in London, offers more details on the severity of her hyperemesis gravidarum — acute morning sickness — and notes, as other outlets have, that the condition is more common when a mother is expecting twins. For the record, the royal couple has not announced that the duchess is pregnant with twins, but outlets including the Independent and the Daily Beast are entertaining the possibility. Meanwhile, the BBC reports that today Prince William has returned to the hospital where the duchess has been admitted, to be by his wife’s bedside as he was yesterday.

In more royal pregnancy coverage — because there will always be more — the Daily Mail has already figured out what the future offspring of Kate and William will look like using forensic science and, apparently, the face-meld technology once employed by Conan O’Brien . Snooki is already offering the royal couple child-rearing advice, via the New York Daily News. Oh, and one more thing: People says that Prince Harry must be the happiest person of all regarding the pregnancy, because the arrival of the new royal child — or children, as the case may be — pushes him further down the line of succession to the throne.

In other celebrity news, assuming anyone cares about other celebrities when the royals are having a baby: Kristin Chenoweth is reportedly dating former “Bachelor” star Jake Pavelka. (GossipCop)

“Dancing With the Stars” host Brooke Burke-Charvet is preparing this week for her thyroidectomy. (People)

According to Us Weekly, Katy Perry hid under a table last month when Russell Brand showed up at the same restaurant where she and John Mayer were dining. Which sounds like the best episode of “Three’s Company” ever. (Us)

A Harvard Medical School psychiatrist tells Vulture that “Silver Linings Playbook” actually gets a lot of things right regarding mental illness. (Vulture)

Zachary Quinto of “American Horror Story: Asylum” explains why he has been cast twice as a TV serial killer: It’s because of his eyebrows and ability to look down in a sinister fashion. (Conan)
