Time for another lesson in Celebritology 101, in which I point out something rather obvious, mix it up with something you (hopefully) haven't seen before, then arrive at an unexpected conclusion, which may or may not make sense in relation to the rest of the piece.
Today's lesson is a double-header: Once you're a celebrity, privacy evaporates and no matter how mundane, there is an audience for anything celebrity related.
To illustrate the above, I share the following re-enacted anecdote. On Friday night, I was overcome by a serious craving for pictures of celebrities eating. Having already wasted $4.99 on "Hostel" on OnDemand, I was desperate for entertainment. Did I dare hope for such a treat? I dared. My appetite was sated by a quick Google search and the No. 1 return: Celebrities-Eating.com.
The site is pretty addictive -- who can resist shot after shot of beautiful people captured at the unglamorous moment when the plane is heading for the open hangar? See Uma chow down on something stringy, witness Nicole's unfortunate encounter with a corndog (hey, at least she's eating) and learn what Elijah Wood can do while eating corn.
While mildly embarrassing for some of the subjects, Celebrities-Eating.com is actually pretty tame compared to some other scathing (yet hilarious) sites. There's no harm being done here. Well, unless by some freak of nature this site is like the only thing being picked up by some alien culture looking for signs of intelligent life in the universe. If that's happening, I think we may be harvested as food for our betters.
