New ‘Dark Knight Rises’ poster teases ‘The Legend Ends’

(The Dark Knight Rises.com/Warner Bros.)
Is Batman going down for good? That’s what a new poster for “The Dark Knight Rises” — which, can you believe it, is still more than six months away from its release date — may be implying.

Mumble mouth villain Bane is shown walking away from a crushed Batman mask in a dark, rainy scene. It’s an unsettling sight, but perhaps shouldn’t be surprising considering the caped crusader, eight years older than the last time we saw him, will face a villain capable of “ripping out spinal columns,” according to director Christopher Nolan. Maybe we should be thankful there are no scattered limbs in the poster.

But what of the ominous statement, “The Legend Ends”? Taken at face value, it could mean Batman dies. Or it could simply be saying this is the final Batman movie. (It will be for Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and, perhaps, Nolan.)

See the full poster below, and weigh in with your thoughts in the comments.
