Nike to unveil Marty McFly’s ‘Back to the Future II’ sneakers?

The Nike Air Mag: A real thing at last? (Nike via YouTube.)
Great Scott! It appears that Nike is finally ready to take us, or at least our feet, “Back to the Future.”

Last year, the company patented the technology to make the Nike Air Mag sneakers Marty McFly wears in “Back to the Future II” a reality. These futuristic shoes boast power-laces.

“Nike Kicks” blogger Matt Halfhill said he was called by Nike at midnight Wednesday and flown to Los Angeles. There he found a box that contained a message from Dr. Emmett Brown (“If my calculations are correct, over the next 24 hours you are about to see some serious [bleep]!”) and metal shield glasses. There was also a goodie-bag of “Back to the Future” products.

To add to the hype, the company released a teaser video called, “McFly’s Closet,” showing rows and rows of the kicks.

Nike is holding a private reception this evening when, we hope, the shoes will be unveiled.

Get a glimpse at the shoes below.

Update: Michael J. Fox talked about the Mags on “Letterman.” Find out all the details here.
