Actress Rita Wilson is taking on a new role: editor.
Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of AOL Huffington Post Media Group, named Wilson as editor-at-large of the new site, Huff/Post 40. The 54-year-old stage and screen actress will oversee the Huffington Post site targeted at the boomer generation, set to launch in August.
“Issues related to being over forty have always intrigued me,” Wilson said in a press release. “My mom and dad always used to say, ‘Life begins at forty.’ The idea that we boomers are somehow supposed to wind things down as we get older has completely escaped me.”
Although Wilson has limited journalism experience — she’s a contributing editor at Harper’s Bazaar — she’s already using an important (and controversial) way to find content. On Twitter, Wilson is already crowd-sourcing, asking users, “What do you want to see?”
My answer: Lots of your hubby, Tom Hanks, please.
