‘Sexiest Man Alive’ 2011: The Ryan Gosling protest at People magazine headquarters is on

Ryan Gosling supporters mobilized to protest the selection of Bradley Cooper as People’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” gathering outside of the magazine’s New York headquarters Thursday to show their love for the Canadian actor.

Buzzfeed is leading the charge, starting a petition on to demand People give Gosling a cover of his own: “Together, we can right this wrong.” Over 1,900 people are behind the cause.

“I came here as soon as I heard the news.... is everyone ok????” one signatory wrote. “Because this is NOT OK. Together we can beat this cruel injustice.”

On Thursday afternoon, Gosling supporters Occupied People magazine’s New York headquarters, chanting, “One, two, three, four/ Bradley Cooper is a bore/ Five, six, seven eight/Ryan Gosling's super great.” The site provided protesters with a Gosling mask.

“Bring signs, pictures, and your voice. We will be heard!” the Facebook invite to the protest declares. “RYAN GOSLING WAS ROBBED!!!!!!”

Check out photos from the protest tweeted by Buzzfeed below.

There’s no word on what Gosling thinks of the egregious snub or the outpouring of support he’s received. But based on the following very serious comments George Clooney, Gosling’s “Ides of March” co-star and a previous “Sexiest Man Alive,” made to “Extra,” we’re betting he’s absolutely devastated.

“He really wants it. He's been saying the whole time we were on the set of ‘Ides,’ he was like, ‘How did you pull that off?’” Clooney said. “So I called up Brad Pitt and we worked with him for weeks on the walk., we told him how to train, everything.”

Take heart, Ryan. You’ll always be the people’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”
