“Scream 4” actress Courteney Cox got depressingly candid about her relationship with estranged husband David Arquette on last night’s “Late Show with David Letterman.” “We’re getting along great,” the actress said. “It’s kind of the best we’ve ever been.”
Cox’s stories about Arquette were funny, but tinged with sadness. On a recent trip to Disney World, she told Arquette, “David, you’re 39. You look great. You’re gonna find somebody named Tiffany or Brittany.”
As if that weren’t sad enough, she told Arquette, “‘Look, when you end up with one of those girls, if we don’t make it, can I come over and organize drawers a little bit?’ ... And he said, ‘Yeah I’ll just tell Brittany, “She seems controlling, but if you give her a couple hours this place is gonna be great.” ’ ”
Cox told Letterman that Arquette, who is now sober, had been drinking around the time he gave his very personal interview to Howard Stern, and even joked about his sobriety. “They give you these birthday chips,” Cox said. “And I was like, ‘You’re only 100 days old,’ which is sometimes older than he was when we were married.”
Arquette echoed his wife’s kind sentiments to Jimmy Kimmel.
