A mere 53 films were hand-picked from 1,929 submissions, and the just-announced slate (unsurprisingly) looks promising.

Second trailer for Facebook movie 'The Social Network' is here

So are we voting "like" on " The Social Network ," the movie that tells the story of the founding of Facebook and will open this fall's New York Film Festival ?

Even though the film's second trailer -- released online today -- makes me a little dizzy with all of its rapid-fire status updating, I remain very much intrigued. Why? Watch, then I'll explain below.

Now, why I'm intrigued:

Because David Fincher ("Flight Club," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") directed it.

Because Andrew Garfield -- the new Spider-Man -- is in it. And now that he's officially become Peter Parker, all of his performances take on a new level of must-scrutinize importance.

Because Aaron Sorkin wrote it. Which, hopefully, means that Jesse Eisenberg (who plays Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg) and Justin Timberlake (in the role of former Facebook president and Napster creator Sean Parker) will get to do at least one walk-and-talk .

And because, if that clip is any indication, the movie will be, like, super Interwebby. And Lord knows I love the Internet, and that wonderful series of tubes that keeps it chugging along.
