Selena Gomez has been granted a temporary restraining order against a man who police said threatened her life.

Thomas Brodnicki allegedly told a therapist he was going to kill the teen star, TMZ reports. The 46-year-old man, who reportedly has a history of mental illness and stalking, traveled from Chicago to Los Angeles to visit her workplace, according to court documents. Brodnicki said he had conversations with God about harming Gomez.

The Disney actress is in “extreme fear” of the man, according to her court declaration.

A judge ordered Brodnicki to stay 100 yards away from Gomez until Nov. 4, when a hearing will be held, the Associated Press reports.
