‘Simpsons’ fans watch over 86 hours of the show, set record

“The Simpsons” (AP/Fox)
Last week, Celebritology posed the question, how many episodes of “The Simpsons” would a person watch to break a Guinness World Record and win a big cash prize?

We now have an answer: 86 hours and 37 minutes.

Two “Simpsons” fans, Jeremiah Franco and Carin Shreve of California, watched over three days of the long-running Fox show without falling asleep/losing their minds, the Wrap reports. As we previously noted, the 100 participants in the marathon challenge, timed to promote the show’s 500th episode, were given rest breaks, food and liquids.

The winners were rewarded with $10,500 each and some merchandise, as well as a Guinness World Record for marathon TV watching. The record was previously held by three gentlemen who watched 86 hours and six minutes of “24.”
