Snooki speaks at Rutgers University and makes more money than Toni Morrison

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was paid $32,000 by a student-run committee at Rutgers University to speak on campus Thursday night. It turns out that’s $2,000 more than the university is paying author Toni Morrison — the Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning author — to speak at the school’s commencement in May. Given the competition in the job market, that also may be at least few thousand dollars more than some Rutgers grads will make in their first jobs out of school.

According to the New Jersey Star-Ledger, Snooki appeared on campus Thursday night during two tongue-in-cheek “Inside the Actors Studio”-esque sessions dubbed “Inside the Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi Studio.” The pearls of wisdom that $32,000 bought included this deep thought: “Study hard, but party harder.” Couldn’t the Rutgers University student activity committee have imparted the same advice by screening “National Lampoon’s Animal House,” which would only have cost about five bucks to rent?

The Star-Ledger report says students had mixed feelings about the booking. Some thought it was a waste of money, while others felt Snooki’s asking price was fair considering that other talent — like “Parks and Recreation” star Aziz Ansari — wanted $75,000 for a similar appearance.

No word on how Morrison feels about the situation. Surely she’s at home revising her commencement address now that Snooki stole her “Study hard, but party harder” line.
