The rapper, three friends and a driver were pulled over in a rented Escalade for a broken light early Tuesday morning. Police discovered marijuana and guns in the SUV.

Soulja Boy, whose given name is DeAndre Cortez Way, was charged with marijuana and gun possession. He was released on $10,000 bond, according to the Associated Press.

The musician’s arrest coincided with the DVD release of “Soulja Boy: The Movie,” a film about the 21-year-old’s career thus far. The two occurrences are (hopefully) not a coordinated publicity stunt.

After his release, Soulja Boy was back on Twitter to promote his film. But a short while later, he thanked his fans for their support: “thank you and i'm sorry. love you forever, seeing your letters and you standing outside that jail made me feel the love. my fans r the best.”

He expanded on this idea later: “aye can I have a real [expletive] moment? my fans was DEEP AS [expletive] OUTSIDE THAT JAIL MAN IM SORRY!!! thats love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

As he left the courthouse, Soulja Boy told fans, “I'm innocent man. I love you all. I just want you'll to know I'm innocent,” CBS Atlanta reports.

For now, it’s back to business for Soulja Boy — sending love to fans and selling DVDs: “Goodnight. much love go cop soulja boy the movie everywhere now thanks for your prayers.”
