Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, who have milked every last drop of fame they can out of the reality TV cow, are now sad about nearly everything they’ve ever done.
In an interview with the Daily Beast, the most hated characters from MTV’s “The Hills” talk about their many regrets, going broke and living with Pratt’s parents.
“What we learned is: You can be too famous,” Pratt told the Daily Beast.
Speidi leave no stone unturned in the interview, from their fake breakups — “We’ve never been apart,” Montag said — to how they spent every cent. Pratt said their money went toward reality show “props,” including “a million dollars on suits and fancy clothes.” Montag’s failed music career also sucked up a lot of cash, he said.
As for Montag, she’s now wishing she could undo the 10 plastic surgery procedures she underwent. “Obviously, I wish I didn’t do it,” she said. “I would go back and not have any surgery. It doesn’t help. I got too caught up in Hollywood, being so into myself and my image. I don’t regret anything, but if I could go back, I wouldn’t do it.”
Now the kids are living for free at Pratt’s parents’ house in Santa Barbara. They stay home and watch movies, do laundry and teach their dogs not to poop in the house, Montag said.
Their future doesn’t look much brighter. Pratt can’t land a job, although he would go back to reality TV in a heartbeat. “What real job ... would want Spencer Pratt, with the stigma I’ve attached to my name?” he said.
“We were living each other’s mistakes — everything we were doing, in retrospect, was a mistake. The second we continued on our quest for fame was a mistake,” Pratt said. “This isn’t a business. That was the big thing I didn’t get: Reality TV is not a career. Anyone who says, Oh, you can have a career in ‘reality’ — that’s a lie.”
