Letting audiences know how long they have until the band takes the stage is a really great idea.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Safe & Sound’ music video debuts

Taylor Swift performs at the Grammys. (Matt Sayles - AP)
The video for Taylor Swift’s “Safe & Sound,” one of her contributions to the “Hunger Games” soundtrack, has debuted.

Swift looks ethereal in an antique white dress as she wanders through some bare-treed woods, appearing as melancholy as she sounds. (I mean that in the best way possible.)

The 22-year-old country star performed the song with folk/Americana duo the Civil Wars, who introduced her performance at the Grammys. The group appears in the video.

Alas, there’s no footage from the soon-to-be-released film based on the first book in Suzanne Collins’ beloved series. (You’ll have to go here and here for that.) But at the 2:30 mark, Swift finds a mockingjay pin, a nice “Hunger Games” nod that should help keep fans happy until March 23 (and maybe send them looking for the official replica).

Watch the video below.
