The trailer for “The Avengers” has arrived online, giving us a first peek at the Joss Whedon comic book adventure that planted the first seeds of summer blockbuster hype back at Comic-Con 2010.
The trailer contains two primary highlights: 1. Seeing Mark Ruffalo (albeit briefly) for the first time in the role of David Banner/the Incredible Hulk. 2. Listening to Robert Downey Jr.’s signature wisecracks as Tony Stark/Iron Man.
“Dr. Banner,” he tells Ruffalo, “your work is unparalleled. And I’m a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster.”
Ah, Mr. Downey. Will your uber-confident sarcasm ever grow old?
By the way, if this isn’t enough to pique your interest in the clip, the trailer also features Scarlett Johansson in her curve-hugging Black Widow suit, Jeremy Renner firing arrows as Hawkeye and several explosions that send cars flying into the stratosphere. Enjoy.
