The many Wimbledon expressions of Victoria Beckham

David and Victoria Beckham attended today’s Wimbledon championship match between Andy Murray and Roger Federer looking decidedly — what’s the word I’m looking for ... oh, there it is — posh.

The always striking Victoria Beckham clearly sensed that Murray, the U.K.’s first hope for a native Wimbledon champion since the 1930s, would ultimately fall to the also-quite-posh Federer, because she maintained her trademark uber-serious facial expression (see above) throughout the match. Or she at least maintained it in every photograph taken of her during the match.

Peruse the images below for evidence.

Wait a minute, Victoria Beckham is almost smiling. Buuut not quite.

David Beckham is really smiling. But Posh Spice? All cool Britannia.

Now both of the Beckhams are uber-serious.

Victoria Beckham: “Pleasure to see you. I’d turn up the corners of my mouth to reflect that pleasure, but I am contractually obligated to maintain an aura of solemn glamour.”

Here, David Beckham wears a sexy half-grin, while Victoria Beckham ponders whether it’s time to project a new emotion. Clearly, her conclusion was “no.”

Fortunately another royal pair, one of whom is legitimately royal, were on hand at Wimbledon to pick up the famous-British-people-emoting-in-the-stands slack. Duchess Catherine and Pippa Middleton, we are terribly grateful.
