‘The Office’ season finale: Meet the possible new bosses (Video)

The season finale of “The Office” aired Thursday night, giving viewers a first look at Steve Carell’s possible replacements. Based on the episode, it’s fair to say guest stars Will Arnett, Ray Romano, Jim Carrey and Warren Buffett will not be sticking around Scranton, Pa.

It seems that, as Celebritology’s Jen Chaney reported, character Michael Scott’s replacement will be one of the two remaining outside candidates, played by James Spader and Catherine Tate, or a character already on the show. The third, least likely option would be a yet-to-be-introduced character.

Spader, the ’80s heartthrob and “Boston Legal” actor, played Robert California, whose strange confidence intimidated the always cool Jim Halpert (John Krasinski). While California’s weird behavior was amusing, it doesn’t seem like that kind of crazy would be sustainable.

British actress Tate may not be familiar to American audiences, but her character Nellie Bertrum was certainly memorable. Bertrum, a friend of Dunder Mifflin Sabre owner Jo Bennett (Kathy Bates), brought plenty of new age ideas — no cubicles and a Thai massage therapist, for example — to the table. With her powerful connection and wacky personality, Bertrum seems like the most feasible choice to fill Scott’s shoes.

Whom would you like to see as the new Michael Scott: Spader, Tate or one of the existing “Office” characters? Let us know in the comments.
