Tom Cruise walked his first high-profile red carpet since his divorce from Katie Holmes
. It happened last night in London at the UK premiere of “Jack Reacher.” During his trip down the press line, he told Reuters Television that he would not have played the lead role in the new action movie — based on a book series about a very tall and burly sniper — if the books’ author, Lee Child, had not supported it. “I had my own opinion that I didn’t say to Lee and then he came back and pretty much reflected what I had felt about it. But had he said ‘look I’d rather not,’ I would not have played the character,” the neither tall nor burly Cruise explained. (Us Weekly; Reuters)
Chrisoula Workman, mother of “Modern Family” star Ariel Winter , has filed a lawsuit against a man who works as an acting teacher at a school run by her older daughter, Shanelle Workman Gray. The reason for the lawsuit: defamation, based on a post the man, Mathew Borlenghi, wrote about Workman in the comments section of an L.A. Times article in which he referred to Workman as “an abusive monster.” Workman is trying to regain custody of Winter after a judge ruled that the young woman who plays Alex Dunphy should reside with Gray. Hayden Panettiere, star of “Nashville,” and Scotty McKnight, New York Jets wide receiver, have ended their romance, which lasted a little over a year. Given her country music chops, maybe Panettiere and Taylor Swift can team up to write a song about it? (Gossip Cop)
