Brooke Shields could not seem to catch a break at the Tony Awards on Sunday. First, the actress flubbed her lines during the opening number not once, but twice. “I don’t know what I’m doing!” she exclaimed, before reading the words off a notecard.
Later, while she was onstage to present an award, Shields joked about the error, saying, “I can do eight performances a week, but I can't read a teleprompter.” It was then that she committed her second error — swearing on live television — while explaining her first:
“I thought they'd edit it, then I realized: ‘Oh, [bleep.] It’s live.’ ” Watch both moments here.
On a happier note, Catherine Zeta-Jones made her first public appearance since announcing she that was treated for bipolar II disorder this April. The actress, who won a Tony last year for “A Little Night Music,” presented two awards.
