Trace Adkins loses home to fire

Trace Adkins. (Dan Steinberg - AP)
Trace Adkins lost his Nashville home to a fire Saturday.

The country singer was traveling to Alaska for a performance when he learned of the blaze. His wife, Rhonda, and their three daughters were not harmed.

“Trace wishes to express his gratitude for the immediate response of the Brentwood Fire Department and is humbled by the outpouring of concern from friends and fans,” a statement on the singer’s Web site read.

Rhonda Adkins said fire safety tips her children — who were inside the home when the fire broke out — learned at school saved their lives. “They ran to their safe place like we practiced, in the front yard at a big tree,” she told CNN. “And it worked. You know, fire safety is so important, and today we used it.”

Adkins recently performed at CMT’s “Music Builds” concert, which raised money to assist those affected by the floods, tornadoes and storms that recently hit the United States.
