Tyler Perry has released a statement praising the Atlanta Fire Department for responding quickly to a four-alarm blaze that broke out at his studio complex Tuesday evening.
The filmmaker sent the following statement to media outlets, including Celebritology, via his publicist:
“Atlanta firefighters responded immediately to a fire which damaged the backlot facade of one of the buildings at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. We are grateful that there were no injuries, and that 99 percent of the damage is limited to the backlot facade. Mr. Perry wishes to express his heartfelt thanks to the Atlanta fire department for their professionalism in their quick response and limiting the damage.”
More than 100 firefighters were called to the scene to contain the fire, which damaged the exterior of one building, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The building suffered no structural damage.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the Associated Press.
