David Wain, the comedian, actor and, most recently, writer/director of “Wanderlust,” confirmed during a Reddit “Ask me Anything” today that the “Wet Hot American Summer” sequel is really happening. But that’s about all he’ll reveal.

“We are working on the sequel (me and Michael Showalter),” Wain wrote. “Original cast will return. Storyline is secret!”

Michael Showalter, who starred and co-wrote the film, first broke the news on Bravo’s “Watch What’s Happening Live.”

Dampening the excitement of fans of the cult flick, “Wet Hot” co-star Michael Ian Black tweeted, “I really don’t think this is true.” (I really do think it is, Michael.)

Wain gave a few more details about the project to Vulture, saying that he and Showalter are working on the script right now. As for the cast — which includes Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Molly Shannon, Amy Poehler and a whole gaggle of super talented people — he said “most” of the characters will return.

In the Q&A with Reddit, Wain also talked about some other projects he’s working on, projects he’s worked on in the past (“Stella,” “The State”) and gave advice to filmmaker hopefuls (“Work hard and don't make excuses.”) Read the whole AMA here.
