Watch: ‘Seeking a Friend for the End of the World’ trailer

Here’s the trailer for “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World,” an apocalyptic dramedy starring Steve Carell and Keira Knightley.

In the film, directed and written by “Nick and Norah” scribe Lorene Scarfaria, an asteroid named Matilda is headed for Earth and the mission to stop it has failed. This leads neighbors Carell and Knightley to go on a journey to find his first love, as well as to see her family, before the world ends in three weeks. It also stars Patton Oswalt, “Friday Night Lights’ Connie Britton, “Community’s” Gillian Jacobs, Rob Corddry, Rob Huebel and and a cute dog. (This summer’s Uggie?)

It may be the trailer’s use of the fantastic Talking Heads song “Road to Nowhere,” manipulating my emotions, but this looks pretty promising. Carell has proved that he can play a serious, likable, slightly depressed character well in “Little Miss Sunshine,” “Dan in Real Life” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” And Knightley is, well, Keira Knightley!

Watch a trailer for “Seeking a Friend,” due out in June 2012, below.
