Watch the touching montage from Pixar’s ‘Up’ as a Cialis commercial

Carl and Ellie, during happy times in Pixar’s “Up.” (Disney/Pixar)

Hey, remember when you first saw the movie “Up” three summers ago and that montage about the marriage of Carl and Ellie made you sob so hard that you had to hide your face behind your jumbo popcorn so your kids wouldn’t realize you had been reduced to tears barely a half-hour into a family-friendly Pixar movie?

Well, there’s a video on Funny or Die that puts that touching scene in a whole new light.

Really, when you strip away the context for the ”Married Life” scene and the incredibly moving music by Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino, it is astonishing how similar it is to a commercial for erectile dysfunction medication. I had never considered this before, despite the fact that the movie that gave us this moment is called “Up,” an erectile dysfunction double entendre if I’ve ever heard one. (I know, “Up” supposedly refers to the balloons that send Carl’s house soaring into the sky. Right. And I suppose “Beauty and the Beast” isn’t about bestiality either, even though the word beast is right there in the title.)

Anyway, this Funny or Die video proves that portions of this montage, when edited together just so, really do have a lot in common with a Cialis commercial. So watch the “Up”-meets-Cialis ad below, if only to make yourself laugh instead of cry for the first time while watching this scene. Then view the original, also below. Because after watching the first clip, that’s the only way to make sure the people at Pixar and Disney won’t send you to hell. Seriously, they have that kind of power. Don’t kid yourself.

The original montage:
